Amy has been performing and delighting audiences of all ages for New Year's Rockport Eve for all thirteen years since we began. This year Amy performs "When the Drum Sang." This is not a very scary show, and it turns out okay in the end, but, wow, sometimes these puppets really need to learn their lessons. They will need some stick drumming help from the audience, and the sticks will be provided.
Amy Seabrook is a local puppeteer who enjoys the company of children. In her spare time, she also dances and makes cut-paper artwork.

DAISY NELL & CAPT STAN with the CRABGRASS BAND
Although we try to take our listeners to far away places with our music, we often find universal themes right in our own lives, our own roots. The sea around us often dominates our music, but family life and ties to the shore are very strong for both of us. "Daisy Nell", native of Essex, MA, mainstay of the shipbuilding industry for over 300 years, brings New England’s maritime history alive through traditional and contemporary songs of the sea. A familiar voice on the North Shore music scene, she is known for her broad repertoire of traditional folk, chanteys, and contemporary songs. Her husband, "Capt. Stan", adds his guitar to Daisy's banjo and guitar. Together they cover a lot of territory, from the foc’s’le to the farm! Daisy has been associated with school programming for many years as a free-lance in-school artist, nursery school music teacher, and museum educator. She also has written and implemented on board interpretative programs on various vessels, including the Mimi and the schooner Adventure. She has written the signature song for Adventure, among others, and even takes a crack at advertising jingles on local cable TV. Stan Collinson started out in high school folk groups and moved on to a performing duo in college with mandolin titan Taylor Armerding of Northern Lights fame. When not tuning his guitar, he might be found tuning up an engine at his business, Gaybrook Garage in Essex. Stan was also at the helm of his free-range turkey farm for many years, back when he was “Farmer Stan”. Sadly, Boundary Farm is no longer raising birds, but the occasional off course sea gull roosts on the roof. Their music is a shared love, and they hope to share it with you. Their band Crabgrass consists adds the talents of Pat Conlon on mandolin and Jack Schwartz on bass. Pat is a veteran of the Cape Ann music scene, and plays with the band Pick Three, and sometimes the Backwoods Ramblers, as does Jack Schwartz. Should you see a blur resembling a human with an instrument case anytime during this evening, it’s probably either Jack or Pat trying to get from one site to another on time! www.daisynell.com

Due to his accuracy and inimitable style and approach to his work, public interest in this psychic has rapidly increased. He has performed readings for professional athletes and recording artists. Based only on word-of-mouth advertising he has attracted several high profile clients. Justice was born in Newburyport. He is a native New Englander whose ancestors first arrived at Plymouth Plantation after crossing the Atlantic aboard the Mayflower in 1620. Other Justice ancestors were the first settlers of several communities in MA including Newbury in 1635 and the City of Salem in 1626. Jeffrey is also a direct descendant of Roger Conant, the founder of Salem and its first “Royal Governor.” Conant was born in Devonshire, England in 1592 and died in Beverly, MA. Jeffrey’s family has had a long association and relationship with the paranormal which began over a century ago, when some of its members began attending Spiritualist meetings and séances in the 1890’s. Since that time, the family maintained an affiliation with Spiritualism. Few, however, discussed their powers with people outside the family. Jeffrey is a fourth generation psychic and spirit medium. His own psychic abilities were recognized by a grandmother while he was quite young. She encouraged him to pursue studying Mediumship as well as various forms of divination. His study of the Tarot began before he was a teenager. He is skilled at reading palms and Tarot cards, and with many other methods for predicting future events. Justice was frequently ill as a child, a trait which he shares with some of the best known psychics. Though already regarded as a child with psychic ability by family, his talent increased after recovering from encephalitis at age nine. Subsequent to his recovery, he was able to see, or sense, people’s true motives and to know many details of their lives which were kept secret. He also became aware of his Spirit Guide, and following that his ability to communicate with the dead developed quickly. www.jeffreyjustice.com Stop by the Coffee House and have some fun with these wonderful readers!!

No performance - set up time for BeatleTracks
BeatleTracks - Beatle Tribute Band
BeatleTracks is a Beatles tribute band which is committed to performing the authentic sounding music of the Beatles live in concert. Formed in 2002 the band was drawn together by their love of the Beatles and the desire to keep alive the sounds that have brought them so much joy. The band members are real Beatle artists, having played and sang these songs most of their lives. BeatleTracks also brings uniqueness to its shows with its Beatle's Trivia interaction with the audience. Ken Sandler - Rhythm Guitar and Vocals picked up his first guitar at age five and has been playing one ever since. The Beatles have had a huge influence on him as a guitarist and singer. He's been playing and singing these songs most of his life. Playing in a Beatles band and re-creating this great music continues to be a life-long passion for him. Bill Betz - Drums/Percussion expertly brings Ringo's drumming style to BeatleTracks. Bill has been playing drums since grade school. He has been a Beatles fan since the early days. Bill studied percussion at Ithaca College. He loves Ringo's minimalist approach and strives to present the same level of intelligent backbeat and fills to the BeatleTracks song list. "Ringo's playing is so natural and unforced. He makes an essential contribution to each song's structure and feel." John Haberstroh - Bass Guitar, Vocals, Beatles Trivia and MC is a walking Beatles encyclopedia. Audiences love his interaction with heavy duty Beatles Trivia! His first exposure to the Beatles was in 1964 during the Invasion, but then life intruded and he didn't make it back to the Beatles until 1969. His buddy played "Eleanor Rigby" and his brother played “Sgt. Pepper” and that was it, he turned into a Beatlemaniac on the spot. In 1989 he moved to Boston and eventually made his way into BeatleTracks together with his guitars, amps and the still exciting thrill and magic of listening to and playing Beatles music. Brian Pike - Lead Guitar, Harmonica and Vocals brings an unmatched excellence to Beatles lead guitar performing George Harrison's riffs to a tee. Audiences delight at the live harmonica in Love Me Do. He first heard The Beatles was when he was five. His older sister played the “Rubber Soul album.” But it wasn't until he was 14 when his older brother played the "White Album" for him that he became a Beatlemaniac. He bought a Beatles songbook to teach himself how to play guitar. He's been playing their music for over thirty (!) years now, and continues to find it just as exciting as when he first started playing. Brian lives locally in Rockport and works for C.B. Fisk by day. Vince Cavaseno - Guitar, Percussion, Harmonica and Vocals. He hails from New York originally. He sang Doo-Wop with his buddies on the streets of Queens, NY growing up. Vince sings back up, some lead vocals and fills the percussion gap. He also got the Beatles Bug while watching “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964. Vince figures out all the harmonies in the songs and keeps the band in line with the original music. He strives for perfection along with all the other band members. “I’m thrilled to have found a group of like-minded individuals who cherish and preserve the sound of the Fab Four.” Caroline Killoh – Keyboard and Vocals. If there are keyboard parts in a song, rest assured that Caroline will perform it with the precision of a skilled surgeon. She is amazing on the keys and if you listen closely you know she is channeling Billy Preston on some songs. “What amazes me about the Beatles is their broad range of style, which makes playing keyboards really interesting. My favorite material is that which includes Billy Preston on the keys because I feel he added so much to the Beatles’ recordings.”
The Fabulous Bullock Brothers - Gospel
The Fabulous Bullock Brothers is a gospel group of brothers, fathers and sons, led by the Rev. George Bullock. They formed in 1950 and continue a Gospel singing tradition passed on to them from their father, known as "Singing Walter", as he traveled the Revival Circle in their home state of North Carolina. The group combines traditional and contemporary gospel music, which celebrates Christianity. Their harmonies and vocal styles preserve Southern Black church traditions, such as leader response and congregation. The group's stage presentation is very joyful, and reminiscent of revival music. They perform such old time favorites as "Swing Low Sweet Chariot", and "Go Down Moses." They combine their traditional Gospel style with contemporary accompaniment, which includes guitars keyboard and percussion. The Fabulous Bullock Brothers have performed at Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Cambridge Multicultural Arts and at festivals and First Night celebrations throughout New England. The group has recently toured Spain to very enthusiastic audiences and was awarded "Living Legends Award" by the House of Blues.
The Jolly Rogues - Seafaring Songs
This talented band of musicians and singers has a varied, intriguing repertoire of 18th and 19th Century material from period commemorative, tavern/drinking, romantic ballads, sea shanties, children's ditties, songs of revolt. Included among the songs are those which invite listening (instrumentals), clapping and foot tapping or singing along with a solo or harmonic melody. Others may invoke a melancholy mood. Among the titles will be found "Rosin the Bow", "Lizzie Lindsay", "Captain Kidd", "All for Me Grog", "Yankee Doodle", "Star of the County Down", "The Parting Glass", "Rattlin Bog", "Boston Harbor Shanty" plus "Harvest Home", "Mermaid", "Boys of Blue Hill", "Johnny has Gone for A Soldier", "Three Jolly Coachmen", "Maid of Amsterdam", "Greenland Whale Fishery". Depending on the programs purpose and musical selection, The Rogues appear attired in either 18th or 19th Century clothing or a combination of the two periods, adding to the color and charm of the performance. Each musical selection has a prelude explanation of the songs history, folklore and meaning. A myriad of emotions is expected to be experienced by the audience. You can tell that these gentlemen are into history, and you don't need to look too far for an affirmation of that fact--they are members of The Guild of Historic Interpreters. They stay pretty true to olde times as well, and if you see them perform you'll probably find them dressing in three-cornered hats and knickers and using traditional instruments. We play on the Schooner Fame out of Salem MA sunset cruises and at George's Island as part of Boston's 4th of July Celebration. We have played in Germany,England and were special guests of Beijing China in 2006. We have a 4th CD coming out soon Hick's the Pirate that we hope to have available for your event. Stämbandet - The Scandinavian Vocal Ensemble
Founded in 1978, Stämbandet is thirteen singers from Scandinavia with a reputation for excellence both as an a cappella ensemble and a World Music vocal group. Presenting songs rarely heard outside of Iceland, Norway, and Sweden, this captivating vocal band often breaks into six- and seven- part harmonies sung in six languages. Led by Allen LeVines, musical director since 1985, Stämbandet performs a wide range of a cappella folk traditions unique to Scandinavia, including "trall" - singers imitating fiddlers playing dance music - a practice that has been compared to scat singing.
Stämbandet's cultural contributions have rarely been placed in perspective, for even within Scandinavia there are few vocal ensembles solely dedicated to the preservation and performance of traditional Nordic song. American-influenced "pop" styles have taken over and continue to dominate not just Scandinavia, but virtually the world. So it is especially significant that in the United States Stämbandet exists at all, where it is the only group of its kind -- not only striving for performances of high artistic merit, but carefully researching the music's origin and history, thereby introducing to the public many other facets of Scandinavian culture.
The long term committment of the singers has helped ensure Stämbandet's cohesiveness of sound and cultural identity. Almost all of the vocalists were born in Scandinavia.
“...the singer's voices are pure and clear, and the songs are of a folk tradition that sounds fresh and new to American ears.”
- Guy Van Duser, Rounder Records
“Stämbandet moved in sparkling harmonies from soft to loud, brightly busy to darkly elegiac.”
- Scott Alarik, The Boston Globe
